Building Future Families

Building Future Families (BFF) mission is to advocate, and provide a voice for the concerns of foster/adoptive and kinship caregivers in collaboration with governing agencies in the foster care industry.

ONE VOICE in 2021

We have now entered 2021 and the Texas 87th Legislative session shall begin January 12th 2021 in Austin.  Of course, the primary focus will be Covid-19.  Hundreds of foster parents over the past several months have expressed safety concerns regarding in home and in person court visits.  Therefore we will collectively speak as ONE VOICE to address the concern and will advocate on behalf of you, Texas Foster Parents to create change.

Please see the attached letter and the link to locate your local State Representative.    Please read the letter to understand the concern being communicated.  Then click on the link, fill in your information to locate your local State Representative.  Once you locate your local State Representative secure his/her name and email address. Return back to the letter and fill in the Dear State Representative _________________________ replace the line with his or her name of your local State Representative.  If you need to customize the letter to fit your needs please feel free to add your personal touch to the letter.  However, please keep the letter to ONE PAGE to include your signature.  DO NOT EXCEED the ONE PAGE.  You want to communicate your concerns in a concise but brief way.  Keep it short and to the point of safety regarding COVID concerns, visitation, court room visits and biological family visits.  Please keep the letter on Building Future Family letterhead to add credibility to your situation.  If you are not currently fostering, please send the letter anyway because I am sure you can relate to the concerns expressed in the letter.  If you have stopped fostering because of COVID, you need to insert that in the letter somewhere by simply stating, I have stopped fostering because of COVID.  You do not need to tell your full story.  The statement alone speaks for itself.

Sign your name or type your name at the bottom of the letter above the Concerned Foster Parent line.  Then copy and paste the letter or send the letter as an attachment to the email address of your local State Representative.

We know that the more people speak in ONE VOICE their concerns regarding the same issue, the more likely things will change. Please confirm receipt of this email.  Once your email has been sent to your local State Representative you should receive a confirmation of receipt, if not, request for a confirmation of your concern.
